MARY MINAS

Producer

Mary Minas is an independent producer who has asserted herself as a significant emerging talent in the Australian film industry.

Mary’s career began in the world of music videos, producing clips for artists such as Temper Trap, Sally Seltmann and Kimbra. She has since produced short films with some of Australia’s most exciting young writer/directors.

In 2010 Mary met director Kasimir Burgess and became involved as Production Manager on his short film LILY, which went on to win the Crystal Bear in the Generation K-Plus section of Berlinale ’11. The following year, Mary and Kasimir continued their simpatico working relationship with Mary producing Kasimir and James Armstrong’s fantastical short THE MAN WHO COULD NOT DREAM, starring Geoffrey Rush & Alan Brough. The film premiered as part of the Accelerator Program at MIFF 2012 and was celebrated by audiences at festivals around the world including at the Hong Kong Int’l FF, Sapporo Int’l Short FF and interfilm Berlin.

Mary’s involvement in FELL was a success story of Screen Australia’s Talent Escalator Program. With the support of the mentorship scheme, Mary joined the FELL team to work alongside John Maynard as fellow producer during the film’s development and then of course continued on to form a collaboration that resulted in FELL becoming her debut feature.

Mary is currently embarking upon an exciting new venture with fellow independent producer Andrea Distefano, which will be launched later this year.
